MINICINE

Miniciné is a film society operating in the reclaimed Edwardian picture-house inside Armley Mills. We screen an eclectic mix of innovative and thought-provoking films, basically the sort overlooked or undervalued at the multiplexes. Each screening is preceded by a short film, tea and homemade cake and occurs on the fourth Thursday of every month. There are just 26 seats in the cinema, so if you want to guarantee your seat we recommend booking in advance.

SELBY GLOBE COMMUNITY CINEMA

The Selby Globe Community Cinema presents a series of contemporary and classic films, shown as they should be, on the big screen. Films are screened at the Selby Town Hall venue, currently showing two screenings per month, the year round. This year Selby Globe Community Cinema won a highly prestigious Duke of York Award for the development of community spirit, individual leadership and recognition of excellence.

Selby Globe was born from a love of film and lack of cinema in the Selby area that spanned over 30 years. Run entirely by volunteers on a mission to extend the provision of film in Selby and surrounding villages, the group has welcomed over 5000 people through the doors since their first sell-out event: a sing-along screening of Mamma Mia at the town hall in September 2009

This year Selby Globe plan to offer more screenings by adding a Saturday cinema for families and Outreach cinema for rural locations in the Selby district. It’s an exciting time for film and the Selby Globe Community Cinema !
